Concerns about the availability of skilled labor are escalating in the Spanish business landscape. Data from the Bank of Spain reveals that 39% of companies currently face challenges in finding labor, marking a five-point increase compared to the second quarter of 2023.

Shortage of Qualified Personnel

Especially in the construction sector, the need to fill around 800,000 positions nationwide is pressing. ManpowerGroup estimates that a deficit of up to 450,000 jobs could persist by the year 2026.

In this context, over 50% of construction companies in Spain admit to being affected by the shortage of qualified personnel. This forces them to reduce layoffs and increase the salaries of current workers.

Impact on the Renovation Sector

The reality is reflected in the renovation sector, where projects in single-family homes face delays of up to 4 months. This delay leads to fluctuations in budgets, as the shortage of professionals causes increases in material prices, resulting in additional costs for families. Moreover, companies suffer direct losses of up to 5.4 billion euros.

The shortage of skilled labor is a challenge that deeply impacts the construction industry. At Duinsa, we are committed to addressing these challenges and continuing to build a strong future for the sector.
