Tips for lighting an industrial building

When lighting an industrial building, many factors must be taken into account to avoid excessive costs or insufficient light, and the workers’ performance is poor. Productivity in the industry increases by 13% with adequate light and the accident rate is reduced by 11% compared to conventional installations.

Sunlight

Industrial areas do not usually have much sunlight because there are few spaces that allow this type of light to filter. The more windows and larger they are, the better. It is also important to keep the windows clean and without objects that cover them, and use a blind to regulate the entry of light at certain times of the day.

LED technology

The use of LED technology can save up to 80% of energy consumption compared to incandescent or halogen lamps. These lamps emit their light at an angle of 360º, while the LEDs do so at a certain angle, significantly increasing their efficiency.
In addition, fewer LED luminaires are needed to illuminate the same space, and better withstand temperature, dirt or shock. They have a longer lifespan, which reduces the need for replacements and maintenance.

Good maintenance

Although LED technology lasts longer than other types of technologies, proper maintenance requires proper maintenance thus avoiding unnecessary wear. In an industrial space, lamps or luminaires tend to break down more than in other scenarios, such as in a house, because they are on longer, due to dust and temperatures.
Installing sensors means energy savings of 35% compared to manual switching and 60% compared to conventional hoods.
