WHAT IS DAU? THE 7 ASPECTS ANALYZED

Published: Wednesday, 6 March, 2024

The DAU, Document of Adaptation to Use, plays a crucial role in evaluating and ensuring the suitability of a construction system in relation to its performance.

DAU, elaborated by ITeC

The Institute of Construction Technology (ITeC), as an entity registered in the General Registry of the Technical Building Code, is responsible for the elaboration and granting of the DAU. This document, according to the Resolution of the Ministry of Housing of September 2010, is established as a technical evaluation of the suitability of innovative products or systems.

ITeC, as an independent entity, plays a fundamental role in promoting technological innovation in the construction sector. Through rigorous tests that comply with current regulations, it certifies new construction systems and methodologies.

What the DAU evaluates

Investment in innovation by companies leads to the research and development of new construction systems and products. Companies specialized in industrialized construction, lacking reference regulations for these new systems, turn to the DAU.

7 aspects analyzed by the DAU in its tests:

  • Structural safety.
  • Fire safety.
  • Healthiness (health, environmental protection).
  • Energy savings.
  • Safety in use.
  • Noise protection.
  • Other particular functional requirements.

It is essential that the evaluated product has clear construction objectives, is subject to strict control in the production process, and has demonstrated its functioning on-site.

Industrialized construction

Industrialized construction, in constant growth, is transforming the traditional conception of construction. Variables such as production under strict safety controls, reduced execution times, and efficiency in processes are revolutionizing the sector.

Energy efficiency is a highlighted feature of this construction, using more energy-efficient materials and reducing on-site waste, as a significant part of the process takes place in the factory.
